Term Paper Question on Chapter 12
The selectorate model of politics discussed in Chapter 12 of the book has important implications for establishing peace among conflicting parties, relations with the United States, and international relations more generally. Develop the model as it applies to one of the following states or conflicts in the international system. Be sure to discuss/identify (1) the winning coalition of each state involved, (2) the selectorate of each state involved, (3) how the policies of the leader help him/her stay in power, and (4) the prospects for change to the current status quo.
The states/conflicts available for this assignment include, in no particular order: China, Egypt, Syria, Libya, Bahrain, North Korea, Myanmar, Cuba, Congo, and Saudi Arabia.
As per the syllabus, the paper should be a maximum of 5 pages, typed, double-spaced, and is due by 3pm, Wednesday, June 22, 2011, to the eLearning website for this course.
